Highlighting the concerns of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government for the development of Nagaland and the Northeast region, he said the ENPO should participate in the electoral process.

It is going to vote for development of the region and will strengthen the government’s development imperatives for the region, Zhimomi told HornbillTV on the sidelines of the People’s Democratic Alliance’s campaign for its Lok Sabha candidate Dr Chumben Murry.

The program was conducted on Wednesday in Niuland town council hall.

As far as eastern Nagaland is concerned, he said, the government of India is greatly concerned for which even Home Minister Amit Shah himself visited Nagaland. There is going to be tangible and sustainable development program, but it cannot be done overnight, he said. It will take some time, Zhimomi said.  Let’s have a look at Minister Zhimomi’s statements.

As Minister Jacob Zhimomi has pointed out about taking part in the democratic process, he emphasized on Nagaland being a matured state now. Therefore, as a mature state, he said, whatever decision the government would take for any part of the state, it will have to be taken collectively with due consultation with the people.

During the main program earlier, Zhimomi said Nagaland is one of the most mature states in India and its statehood represents a prestigious identity for the Naga people. All the 16 districts of Nagaland are special category districts, Zhimomi said.

Political leaders from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and Bharatiya Janata Party, and community leaders attended the event. In his address, Jacob Zhimomi said it takes both the government and the public to bring development. Referring to the eastern Nagaland issue, he mentioned the central government’s working paper to the state government for the development of the eastern areas. He appealed to the people to cast their votes for their representative to address and represent their grievances.
