The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has reaffirmed its resolution to not participate in any central or state elections, referring to it Chenmoho resolution.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, April 11 (HBTV): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has reaffirmed its resolution to not participate in any central or state elections, referring to it Chenmoho resolution.

The ENPO stated that it had come to know that the ministry of Home Affairs had handed over the highlights of the draft for “FNT” (“frontier Nagaland territory”) to the state government in December 2023, on which it was supposed to give its comments before December 31, 2023. The ENPO stated this in a press release received here on Thursday.

According to the commitment made by the ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, to the ENPO, the arrangement of FNT was supposed to be settled before the Election Model Code of Conduct came into force, the ENPO stated.

‘But it was learned that the state government is yet to give comments on the draft to the government of India, due to which the FNT could not be materialized before the announcement of Election Model Code of Conduct to the Lok Sabha 2024 as committed by the MHA,’ the statement said.

Because of this, the public of the eastern areas on February 23, 2024 made a resolution at Chenmoho village to not participate in any central or state election, the ENPO said.

‘The resolution was subsequently reaffirmed on the 19th of March 2024 at Tuensang headquarters. This resolution was again reaffirmed on April 11, 2024 during a public meeting in Tuensang which reads Chenmoho resolution reaffirmed. Now, therefore, we are fully committed to honoring and upholding the eastern Nagaland public resolution with utmost sincerity,’ the statement said.
