Kohima, Nagaland, February (HBTV): Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly S Toiho Yeptho has been elected the deputy speaker of the assembly.

The election to the post was scheduled for February 26, as announced by the assembly speaker.

However, as no other nominations were submitted besides Yeptho’s, the Nationalist Congress Party MLA was declared uncontested.

The president of the Nationalist Congress Party Praful Patel praised Yeptho’s dedication and service to the people of Suruhuto constituency and Nagaland.

Patel extended his congratulations and wished him a fruitful tenure as the deputy speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Sunil Tatkare, the national general secretary of the NCP, also conveyed congratulatory messages and best wishes to the MLA.

Yeptho’s election follows Speaker Sharingain Longkumer dismissing a petition aimed at disqualifying NCP MLAs from Nagaland for supporting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP.
