New Delhi [India], August 15 (HBTV): The Delhi Police Crime Branch’s Anti-Gang Squad (AGS) has busted a multi-state racket manufacturing and distributing counterfeit life-saving medicines, arresting six people including the alleged kingpin.
The network operated across Uttar Pradesh (Moradabad, Deoria, Gorakhpur), Haryana (Panipat, Jind), and Himachal Pradesh (Baddi, Solan). Two illicit factories in Jind and Baddi were raided, yielding large quantities of fake medicines packaged to imitate reputed pharmaceutical brands.
The crackdown began on July 30 after a trap was laid at HP CNG Petrol Pump, Civil Lines, Delhi. Police intercepted a car carrying Mohd. Alam (35) and Mohd. Saleem (42) from Moradabad, UP, with counterfeit medicines. Pharmaceutical company representatives confirmed on the spot that the packaging and stamping were not genuine, and lab tests later verified the drugs as fake.
Further raids and custodial interrogations led to more arrests, including Prem Shankar Prajapati (25) and Parmanand (50). Authorities are now tracing the supply chain, raw material sources, financial transactions, and other suspects.
Police said the operation involved systematic surveillance, strategic interception, and multi-state coordination with technical experts to confirm authenticity.
Investigations are ongoing.
