Jind (Haryana) [India], May 3 (HBTV): After Panchkula, Faridabad, and Gurugram, another phase of the Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0 was flagged off by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Jind district on Friday.

Speaking earlier at the Faridabad event on April 11, CM Saini emphasised that the cyclothon is part of a broader awareness campaign against drug abuse in the state.

‘We are promoting an awareness campaign for a drug-free Haryana through this cyclothon. This is not just a cyclothon, but a revolution against drugs,’ the Chief Minister said.

He added, ‘The event began on April 5 from Hisar (Haryana), which, going through Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Narnaul, Rewari, and Palwal, has now reached Faridabad, and from here, it will proceed to Gurugram.’

The cyclothon aims to reach every village in Haryana over the next three weeks, spreading the message of a drug-free society.

The previous edition of the cyclothon, held over 25 days, saw participation from over 1.77 lakh cyclists and more than 5.25 lakh citizens. Inspired by its success, Cyclothon 2.0 has been launched with renewed energy and purpose.

The Haryana government is tackling the drug menace through a multi-pronged strategy under the State Action Plan, which focuses on three core areas: public awareness, de-addiction and rehabilitation, and strict enforcement against drug traffickers.

To support these efforts, a Special Task Force has been formed to crack down on drug smuggling. Additionally, 52 de-addiction centres have been set up across the state, with dedicated wards in government medical colleges and civil hospitals in 13 districts.

To encourage public involvement, the government has also introduced a toll-free helpline and launched the Manas Portal where citizens can report drug-related activities.
