Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], November 19 (HBTV): An army man approached the Superintendent of Police office during a public hearing on Tuesday in Gwalior district to complain against his wife, alleging that she posed a threat to his life and his mother's life.
The army man, identified as Devendra Singh and currently posted in Chandigarh, said he did not wish to face an incident similar to the recent Indore case involving Raja Raghuvanshi.
Speaking to ANI, he said his wife, Vandana Singh Chauhan, had deceived him into marriage while being in a relationship with her brother-in-law. He claimed that she was attempting to gain access to his property. Vandana, a resident of Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh, works as a government nurse at the district hospital in Morena. He said they married on April 25 this year.
Singh alleged that a few days after the marriage, Vandana returned to Morena, where she lived in a rented house. He said that despite his requests, her family did not facilitate any communication between them. He added that during their wedding, Vandana displayed negative behaviour and questioned him about his property and bank balance. When he informed her that everything was in his mother's name, she appeared displeased.
He further claimed that his wife refused to establish marital relations and made several conditions, including staying separately in Morena and living with her brother-in-law. He also alleged that her brother, who serves in the police in Agra, assaulted him and his mother with the help of local goons. Singh said that before leaving for duty on May 9 after his leave was cancelled due to a national emergency, he and his family were beaten and robbed of gold and money. He added that his wife has not returned since.
He said he had filed complaints in Gwalior and Morena on October 10 but received no response, which prompted him to approach the SP office again. Singh said he wanted action taken to prevent incidents similar to the one in Indore, claiming that his wife sent him messages to lure him and that he feared he would have been killed.
City Superintendent of Police Nagendra Singh Sikarwar said that a complaint regarding a family issue was filed during the public hearing. He said the complainant alleged that he and his mother faced a threat from his wife, who is a government employee posted in another district and does not wish to live with him. He said both parties would be given counselling at the Family Counselling Centre and that all possible assistance would be provided.
The complainant has also submitted a written application regarding the security threat, and legal action will be taken, the officer added.
