Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 11 (HBTV): Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on Wednesday stated that historic decisions are being taken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 lives and left many injured.

Sao described the decisions taken during the recent security review meeting as ‘historic’, particularly for strengthening the Army’s ability to respond.

‘The people of the whole country are angry with the Pahalgam incident. People feel that Pakistan should be taught a tough lesson. Historic decisions are being made under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, whether suspending the Indus Water Treaty or cancelling Pakistanis’ visas. The way Pakistan is repeatedly violating the ceasefire on the border, the decision taken by the Prime Minister yesterday is historic,’ Sao told ANI.

Responding to the Congress party’s criticism, where they described the Prime Minister as ‘Gayab’, Sao accused the opposition of aligning with anti-national narratives.

‘This has exposed the mentality of the Congress party that they time and again speak the language of Pakistan and terrorists,’ he said.

In response to the Pahalgam attack, Prime Minister Modi convened a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), followed by sessions of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), and a full Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

This marks the second meeting of the CCS following the deadly assault in Pahalgam. The committee reviewed the nation’s security preparedness and outlined measures to counter cross-border terrorism. The last CCS meeting on April 23 was briefed in detail about the attack, in which 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali citizen lost their lives.

Among the government's measures was the decision to place the Indus Water Treaty on hold—a move intended to send a firm message to Pakistan regarding its alleged support for terrorism.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi chaired another high-level meeting attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was also present.

Government sources stated that PM Modi reiterated India’s unwavering resolve to decisively combat terrorism. The Prime Minister expressed full faith in the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces and confirmed that they have complete operational freedom to determine the mode, targets, and timing of India’s response.

Also in attendance were Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.
