Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 18 (HBTV): After the launch of the Matrubhoomi Yojana by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, residents across Uttar Pradesh are actively collaborating with the state government to boost grassroots development in their native villages and towns.
From building state-of-the-art sports complexes and art academies to establishing girls' intercolleges, citizens are playing a key role in transforming the future of rural UP. According to an official release, the initiative has witnessed significant participation in districts such as Lucknow, Bulandshahr, Unnao, Bijnor, and Baghpat, helping accelerate development at the local level.
Following Chief Minister Adityanath’s directions, 16 projects under the scheme have already been completed, 18 are under construction, and 26 are in the planning phase.
Examples of ongoing work include an 80 per cent completed sports complex in Bulandshahr, a nearly 40 per cent completed art academy in Unnao, and the soon-to-begin construction of a girls’ intercollege in Bijnor. In Baghpat, cement concrete (CC) roads are being built, while high-mast lights are being installed in Lucknow. Similar works are underway across various districts.
The key feature of the Matrubhoomi Yojana is its public participation model. Anyone interested in creating a public facility in their village must contribute 60 per cent of the total cost, with the remaining 40 per cent funded by the state government. Participation requires online registration, and the scheme is especially aimed at those living outside the state or abroad, encouraging them to contribute to their native place’s development.
To honour their contribution, the name of each donor is inscribed on a plaque installed near the completed project, ensuring that future generations remember their role in community building.
The scheme allows for the construction of various public infrastructure projects, including community buildings, Anganwadi centres, libraries, playgrounds, open gyms, RO plants for clean drinking water, solar lights, high-mast lights, CCTV cameras, sewer systems, milk dairies, fire stations, bus stands, passenger sheds, toilets, skill development centres, animal breeding centres, and cremation grounds.
