Heavy rains erode large portion of Haflong-Silchar link road

The Haflong-Silchar link road has been affected after a large portion of the road was washed away from rising water levels following heavy rains in Dima Hasao district of Assam.

Silchar, Assam, May 28 (HBTV): The Haflong-Silchar link road has been affected after a large portion of the road was washed away from rising water levels following heavy rains in Dima Hasao district of Assam.       

The deputy commissioner of Dima Hasao district, Simanta Kumar Das, told ANI that the district administration has closed the Haflong-Silchar connecting road till June 1.           

Further, one person died and 17 injured following strong winds and heavy rain in the state. Incessant rain since Monday evening has flooded almost half of Silchar city on Tuesday afternoon.              

Silchar's Aizawl Road, Medical College Road, Link Road, National Highway Point Road, Kathal Point Road, and the Ambikapur areas are reportedly some of the worst-affected regions.    

With no proper drainage in this city, flooded waters were seen overflowing and entering homes and shops.                   

Cachar’s Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha has ordered all schools to remain closed on Wednesday keeping in mind the threat from cyclone Remal.
