The ECI has received documents from 98.2 percent of electors in Bihar, with eight days remaining in the Claims, Objections and Documents period of the Special Intensive Revision of the state.

New Delhi [India], August 24 (HBTV): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has received documents from 98.2 per cent of electors in Bihar, with eight days remaining in the Claims, Objections and Documents period of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state, the poll body said on Sunday.

According to a press note issued by the ECI, as per information from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Bihar, between June 24 and August 24, 2025, in 60 days, 98.2 per cent of electors have submitted their documents. This amounts to an average of about 1.64 per cent per day. With eight days still left until September 1, only 1.8 per cent of electors are yet to submit their documents.

The collection exercise is being carried out with the help of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and volunteers. The ECI stated that, just like the collection of Enumeration forms, the collection of documents is also expected to be completed before the deadline.

In line with the orders of the SIR dated June 24, verification of documents is being conducted concurrently by 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 2,976 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs).

Out of 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 0.16 per cent of Claims and Objections have been received so far. These include 10 submissions from Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of 12 recognised political parties in Bihar, none from persons who are not electors of the concerned Assembly Constituency, and 1,21,143 submissions by electors within their respective constituencies, the ECI noted.

The Commission further informed that 3,28,847 new electors, who attained the age of 18 years on July 1 or will turn 18 by October 1, have also submitted Form 6 along with the required declaration.

The SIR process in Bihar is on schedule. All claims and objections, along with verification of eligibility documents, are to be completed by the concerned EROs and AEROs by September 25. After final checks, the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on September 30.
