Jind (Haryana) [India], September 30 (HBTV): A 26-year-old man from Haryana’s Jind district was allegedly shot dead in California, United States, after he objected to a person urinating in a restricted area.

The victim, identified as Kapil, a resident of Barah Kalan village in Jind, was working at a store in California when the incident occurred. According to Suresh Gautam, the sarpanch of Barah Kalan, Kapil had gone to the US through the ‘donkey route’ in 2022.

Gautam expressed condolences to the family and urged the government to expedite the process of bringing Kapil’s body back to India. ‘He was a resident of Jind’s Barah Kalan village. He went to America in 2022 through the donkey route. The day before yesterday, we learned that someone had killed him there. His family told me he was working at a store. When he tried to stop a boy from urinating in a prohibited area, someone shot him, and he died on the spot. There is a wave of sorrow in his family and the village. The government should bring his body back home as soon as possible,’ he said.

Kapil’s cousin Deepak told ANI that he initially received a call about Kapil being involved in a fight but was unable to contact him. Later, Kapil’s roommates informed him that he had been shot dead. ‘He was my little cousin who arrived in the US in 2022. We spent lakhs of rupees to help him fulfil his dream of going abroad. He has two sisters. It took him two and a half months to reach the US. Someone called me saying that my brother was involved in a fight. When I tried to contact him, he didn’t answer. Later, his roommates told me he was shot dead after trying to stop someone from urinating in a prohibited place,’ Deepak said.
