Imphal [Manipur], August 6 (HornbillTV): As a goodwill gesture Olympic Silver medalist Mirabai Chanu invited truck drivers to her home and presented simple gifts. Chanu said she was really fortunate to be able to invite the truck drivers to her home who had helped her when she started training at Khuman Lampak which is around 30 kilometers away from her home.

The Olympian has always maintained that it was because of these truck drivers that she could reach this level in her life. As she almost broke down while remembering her struggling days, she spoke of how these truck drivers would give her a lift almost every day. She further said she would never forget the truck drivers and she will be fortunate if she could help them in future as well.

Chanu is from a small village called Nongpok Kakching which is 30 kilometers always from Imphal town and she used to travel every day for training when there used to be very little means of transportation at that time. Despite the Covid scare prevailing in the state she treated the truck drivers with a feast at her home which she says is a token of love from her side. 

The Silver medalist has already been invited by the President of India at the 15th August celebration where she is going to be felicitated.
