Moscow [Russia], July 24 (HBTV): A Russian passenger plane carrying 43 people was found crashed in a remote forest near Tynda, with no signs of survivors, Russia Today reported on Thursday.
The Antonov An-24 aircraft, which disappeared during a domestic flight from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda, was located by a rescue helicopter approximately 15 kilometres from its destination.
The twin turboprop aircraft lost communication shortly before reaching Tynda Airport, and no distress signal was sent, according to a source cited by Russia Today. The flight covered a 570-kilometre route across Russia's Far Eastern Amur Region.
The region's governor, Vasily Orlov, confirmed that 43 people were on board, including four crew members and five children.
Video footage released by emergency services showed a Mi-8 helicopter flying over a densely forested area as part of the search operation. The wreckage was discovered burning in the taiga, a remote and hilly boreal forest, complicating rescue efforts.
The An-24, developed in the 1950s, is a commonly used aircraft in Russia for regional flights, with over 1,000 units produced.
Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation. However, officials have indicated that there are likely no survivors. (ANI)
