Kohima, Nagaland, April 5 (HBTV):  The Nagaland state cabinet has urged organizations representing the eastern districts of Nagaland to participate in the electoral process and to not employ confrontation as a means to their objectives.

The eastern organizations in Nagaland have been demanding a separate administrative dispensation for their districts and have announced boycott of the Lok Sabha elections to push for their demands.

The Nagaland State Cabinet led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met with the Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers Association (ENGOA) and other senior government officials and holders of important offices from eastern Nagaland on April 4.

After the meeting, Power Minister KG Kenye spoke to media people about the meeting. He said that the meeting of the Cabinet and the ENGOA was for the first time one with some of the leaders from the eastern areas.

Kenye called the meeting free and cordial discussions. The state government iterated to the citizens of the eastern districts, through the ENGOA, that they must participate in the electoral process this time.

‘We should cooperate and try to solve whatever is ahead of us amicably and not take a confrontation position. I think we should resolve this issue and which doesn't mean that if not before the Parliamentary election this issue will die down. It is a continuous process and it has already taken more than a decade and it will continue after the installation of the new government at the centre,’ the minister said.

The minister expressed hope that they will fulfill their roles and responsibilities that are on their shoulders and everyone would do so as well.
