Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], August 17 (HBTV): The Haryana government is stepping up efforts to empower women through schemes promoting self-reliance and financial independence. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in a review meeting, stressed the effective implementation of Lakhpati Didi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana, urging officials to link more women to these initiatives and ease access to bank loans for self-employment ventures.
Over 1.06 lakh women have already benefited from Lakhpati Didi, with a target to empower 25,000 more this year. Under Har Ghar–Har Grihini, nearly 18 lakh families are receiving subsidised LPG cylinders at ₹500, and special village camps will be held for fresh enrollments with on-the-spot bank account linkage.
The state is also building women’s hostels across districts, with the first phase underway in Panchkula, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Sonipat. Upcoming phases will prioritise industrial hubs like Manesar and Panipat. These hostels will feature solar power and AC facilities.
CM Saini further directed upgrades of 2,000 Anganwadi centres under the Saksham Anganwadi scheme in 2025–26 with modern facilities and uniform design. Community centres for Scheduled Castes will also be modernised with solar and AC systems.
Reaffirming youth development, he called for identifying local sports at the village level and supplying equipment to nurture grassroots talent.
