Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 17 (HBTV): The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a new initiative under its Learning by Doing programme to make science and mathematics teaching more practical and engaging. The move, part of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and PM SHRI scheme, focuses on training teachers to adopt innovative and experimental classroom practices.
The phase-wise residential training, supported by UNICEF and the STAR Forum–Vigyan Ashram, will run from August 5, 2025, to March 18, 2026, at the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development and the Deen Dayal Upadhyay State Rural Development Institute in Lucknow. Selected science and maths teachers, DIET master trainers, technical instructors, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) teachers will take part.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said the initiative, under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, aims to empower teachers with modern pedagogy, giving students more logical, hands-on learning experiences. Special emphasis will be placed on training-of-trainers workshops, followed by 2- to 3-day specialised sessions for thousands of teachers across 2,274 schools in 2024-25 and 3,288 schools, including KGBVs, in 2025-26.
Overall, more than 2,000 science and maths teachers and technical instructors from selected schools, along with 1,888 participants from newly added institutions, will be trained. District Coordinators will also be equipped to strengthen school-community engagement.
