Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], August 24 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini distributed Rs 76 crore to 2,020 families under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana (DAYALU) in Chandigarh.
“Today’s event has been organised to provide relief to families affected by the death of a member. Financial assistance of Rs 76 crore has been sent directly to the accounts of 2,020 families,” Saini said at a press conference.
Since the launch of the scheme on April 1, 2023, the CM noted, 36,351 families have received Rs 1,380 crore, including Rs 118 crore disbursed last month. The scheme provides up to Rs 5 lakh assistance in cases of death or permanent disability for families earning less than Rs 1.80 lakh annually.
According to the Haryana Parivar Suraksha Nyas, the compensation varies by age:

Saini also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate six road projects worth Rs 11,000 crore for Delhi NCR and Haryana on August 17. “In the last 11 years, PM Modi has transformed India’s global standing,” he said.
On the occasion, the CM also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, calling him a “pioneer of Indian politics” and urging the Congress to “learn from his decency in public life.” Vajpayee, who served three terms as Prime Minister, passed away on August 16, 2018.
