Ernakulam (Kerala) [India], May 15 (HBTV): The Kerala Police have launched an investigation into the death of a young man who was hit by a car at Nedumbassery in Ernakulam district on Wednesday night, suspecting that the incident may be a case of murder. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Ivin Jijo, a native of Thuravoor.
The incident occurred near Nayathodu, close to the Nedumbassery International Airport, when Ivin was struck by a car driven by a CISF officer. Police said the vehicle belonged to the Central Industrial Security Force and had two CISF personnel inside at the time of the incident.
According to local witnesses, there had been an argument between Ivin and the CISF officers over giving way to the vehicle. Following the dispute, Ivin reportedly stood in front of the car. The initial police findings suggest that the CISF officer then drove the car forward without taking into account that Ivin was directly in front of the vehicle.
The police have stated that further clarity is awaited and the matter is under investigation. More information is expected as the inquiry progresses.
