President Donald Trump reiterated that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is in effect and urged both sides to adhere to the agreement, even as reports of continued attacks emerged from the region.

Washington, DC (United States) [US], June 24 (HBTV): US President Donald Trump reiterated on Monday that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is in effect and urged both sides to adhere to the agreement, even as reports of continued attacks emerged from the region.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated: ‘The ceasefire is now in effect. Please do not violate it! Donald J. Trump, President of the United States.’

The statement follows his earlier announcement that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ‘complete and total ceasefire,’ potentially bringing an end to the 12-day conflict. Trump indicated that the ceasefire would be implemented in phases, with Iran starting the truce first, followed by Israel.

‘Iran will start the ceasefire and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the ceasefire and, upon the 24th Hour, an official end to the 12-Day War,’ he posted.

According to a Reuters report, Qatar played a key mediating role in securing Iran’s approval for the ceasefire. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani reportedly obtained Tehran’s agreement during a phone call with Iranian officials, after President Trump contacted Qatar’s Emir and informed him that Israel had accepted the US-brokered proposal.

Despite the announcement, missile attacks resumed shortly thereafter. The Times of Israel reported that four people were killed and several others injured after an Iranian missile struck a residential building in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba.

The conflict began on June 13 when Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites. Iran retaliated with Operation True Promise 3, a large-scale missile and drone campaign aimed at Israeli air force fuel depots and energy centres.

Tensions escalated further after the US launched Operation Midnight Hammer—precision airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities early Sunday morning. Iran responded by firing missiles at US military bases in Qatar and Iraq, including the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American military installation in the region.
