Panchkula (Haryana) [India], June 24 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the International Day of Yoga protocol training program in Panchkula on Friday, emphasising the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the yoga initiative would significantly benefit soldiers by promoting both mental and physical health.
In his address, Saini highlighted the value of daily yoga practice, stating, ‘If we practice yoga daily, it will help us avoid diseases. Yoga not only gives us good health but also inculcates discipline. I am confident that this yoga program will help maintain our soldiers' mental and physical health.’
He noted that on June 21, the International Day of Yoga, more than 11 lakh people across 22 districts in Haryana would participate in yoga sessions. A special event will be held at Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra, led by Baba Ramdev, with around 1 lakh participants expected.

Earlier, on Tuesday, CM Saini also took part in the Yoga Utsav held at the Haryana Assembly in Chandigarh, ahead of International Yoga Day. He was joined by Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma, State Assembly Deputy Speaker Krishan Lal Middha, and other officials.
On Monday, the Chief Minister stated that cleanliness and yoga would play a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat. He said preparations for International Yoga Day 2025 had already begun with a cleanliness campaign launched on May 27 and the commencement of daily yoga classes in anticipation of the June 21 event.
Saini mentioned that this year’s International Yoga Day theme is One Earth, One Health, and the Haryana Government has also adopted the slogan Yoga Yukt, Nasha Mukt.
This year’s International Yoga Day will be marked by a grand celebration in Visakhapatnam, where over 2.5 lakh people are expected to perform yoga together, in an attempt to set a new world record. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the event, which will take place along the city’s 27-kilometre-long coastal road. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also expected to join PM Modi for the session.
