Raksha Bandhan is a traditional Hindu festival dedicated to the love and bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi around their brothers’ wrists, and in return, brothers offer gifts as a symbol of love and care. The rakhi symbolises protection, with brothers promising to safeguard their sisters from harm.
This year, Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated on August 9. The festival has been deeply rooted in Indian culture for centuries, with references to sisters tying a rakhi to their brothers found in Hindu religious texts.
