However, lessened rainfall is affecting farming in the district. The food grain to be planted during this period is rice. Unfortunately, in most of the areas, plantation is being delayed due to less rainfall.
Ghuvika Yepthomi a student of St. Joseph University at Dimapur, and a resident of Keltomi village informed that the most produced crops in his village’s area are maize, potatoes and kidney beans out of which maize is the most popular.   
He added that the maize seeds are planted in the month of March and is harvested in the month of October. The harvest depends on favourable climatic conditions and the fertility of the soil.  
He lamented that massive hailstorms early this spring, movements of worms, and decreased quantity of rain have had an adverse effect on crops
