Kohima Authorities evict encroachers: Structures demolished, properties sealed

Kohima [Nagaland], July 16 (HornbillTV): The district administration of Kohima has sealed a number of properties due to alleged encroachment on public land at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima today.



The action was taken in the presence of district administration officials, police and Dobashi. Four temporary structures were demolished.    



Sub-division officer for Kohima Sardar, Chonben, talked to media persons at the eviction site. He said that the eviction drive was carried out against the illegal occupation of government property by encroachers. The land that was encroached belongs to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the official said.    



The official also said that as per the orders issued by the district administration, the eviction has carried out after giving an eviction notice to the occupiers. He added that further a course of action will be taken. 



One of the occupiers said that the land owner from whom they bought their plot did not give any information regarding the government orders and that they were not aware of the matter.



SDO Chonben clarified that the eviction notice was issued to the land owners who were to inform the occupiers.
